An Arizona Landmark

The redesign incorporated the hotel’s historic architecture, inspired by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and modern luxury. The renovation included the Paradise, Garden, Valley, Cottage and Terrace Court accommodations. The hotel’s guest rooms and suite accommodations, ballrooms, meeting spaces and spa and salon all have been renovated.

The Guest rooms’ new light and cheerful ambiance feature a mist, linen and latte color palette to create a freshening and relaxing effect, juxtaposed with contrasting warm wood colors that emulate the natural tones of the surrounding desert. Specialty glass tops on bureaus in a thick mist color will bring the soothing atmosphere of a desert oasis indoors. Echoing the distinctive use of metals in the original hotel design, bronze and gold metal accents in the guest rooms evoke a distinguished vintage ambiance. A particularly memorable feature in the guest rooms, bringing a special touch of elegance and grandeur, are the mist-colored wall-covering embossed with a metallic Frank Lloyd Wright design, which echoes the historic pattern on the Biltmore Blocks used to construct the entire resort. The overhauling of the bathrooms was achieved by adding a new vanity, fixtures and lighting. The color palette is cooling, but still warm.

Frank Lloyd Wright drawings of the hotel gardens blended with geometric shapes, creating an avant-garde historic interpretation were the innovative inspiration for the new carpet in the corridors.

The contemporary merging of Wright designs and geometric patterns also were the theme for the Frank Lloyd Wright and McArthur ballrooms, which were refreshed with new carpet, wall coverings, artwork and furniture. The ballrooms and their pre-function areas also have been enhanced with technologically advanced production, signage and lighting capabilities.

During construction, one guest building was closed at a time, renovated, reopened and then construction teams moved on to the next guest building which resulted in minimal disruption to guests and the hotel’s normal functions.

Frank Lloyd Wright Ballroom

Named after the famous architect who influenced the resort’s design, the elegant state-of-the-art ballroom underwent a floor to ceiling restoration and received the latest technical upgrades. An additional 10,798 sq. ft. of pre-function space is available. The newly refurbished 24,576 sq. ft. Frank Lloyd Wright Ballroom is one of Arizona’s largest.

Restored to contemporary elegance and with state-of-the-art capabilities, the 14,904 sq. ft. McArthur Ballroom can be divided up into smaller venues to suit individual requirements and features an additional 6,400 sq. ft. of refreshed pre-function space.

Both spaces received new carpet, new wall coverings, fixtures, furniture and artwork to “elevate the interior architecture.”
